February 1st, 2020 was the date for the annual Carrabassett Fat Tire race at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. This year conditions were prime for the 4 lap 20 mile race or the 2 lap 10 mile race. Fatbiking is a great way to enjoy the area with lots of specifically groomed singletrack, snowmobile trails as well as limited riding at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. Sugarloaf Fat Tire Day 2-10-18
Sugarloaf’s annual Fat Tire Day was held on February 10th, 2018 at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center and was a ton of fun. The day included free demos, guided rides, live music from The Freemont Street String Band and refreshments from Baxter Brewing co. The day also included the Fat Tire Race which participants were able to choose between a long or short course. The conditions were challenging for the racers as fresh snow had fallen in the days leading up to the event but they all had smiles as they enjoyed the riding at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. Sugarloaf Fat Tire Festival
Sugarloaf, along with help from CR NEMBA and Maine Huts and Trails are hosting the first ever Fat Tire Festival on April 4th at Sugarloaf. Popularity of Fat Bikes has skyrocketed in the last few years and this event is an oppurtunity to try out some bikes, race, participate in group rides, have fun and much more! Dave Hughes stopped by the WSKI TV studios to tell us all the details!
