On our Friday tour around to see what’s happening this weekend we got some great news from the Shipyard Brew Haus. The details are still being worked out but the plan is that they will be open for the summer season. Carrabassett Valley History Committee
Jean Luce and Tim Flight stopped by to inform us about something they have been working on for quite sometime. Their efforts have paid off. Check out the History of Carrabassett Valley at www.history.carrabassettvalley.org. So much cool stuff to learn about and you’ll see why certain things around here are named as they are, etc. Did you know there used to be a zoo in Carrabassett?? Watch the interview and check out the website to see more!
Winterkids Downhill 24 is happening right now!
Check out the video…
The Downhill 24 is a team ski and snowboard challenge & fundraiser to benefit WinterKids. Teams compete to see who can not only raise the most in fundraising for WinterKids – but also see who has what it takes to spend a full 24 hours on the slopes. Participants can ski or snowboard as much or as little as they want. It’s the only night of the year to head down the hill under the lights at Sugarloaf. Our crew caught Sarah Long at Java Joe’s this morning to share the latest on a perfect day (& night) for this excellent event!

A windy one in Carrabassett Valley…
Winds reached 171 mph at the top of Mt. Washington on Monday. Winds were high enough here to cause the communications tower at the 4237′ summit to topple over. Woah. So, as you can imagine the lifts are on wind hold and they’ll be some big snowdrifts for the groomers to push through later. There’s still plenty to do off the hill on a day like today. From snowshoeing, cross country skiing or snowmobiling to Bowling, Open Pottery studios, Bar Crawls, hot tubs, Anti Gravity Complex activities and more. Find out more right here at wskitv.com. Here’s some footage from our live show Quad Cam cruising around the mountain this morning.. [Read more…]
