Every year the Sugarloaf Charity Summit brings the greater mountain community together to raise funds for finding cures for cancer & caring for Maine residents affected by the disease. The social aspects of the event attract folks from near & far, including our State’s Independent Senator & the Legendary John Christie, see here in an interview on our Mountain Report on Sat. Snowshoeing the Appalachian Trail

Most people think of hiking the AT as a summer adventure, but in Maine’s High Peaks, the magic of winter wonderland is best seen on snowshoes when the thru-hikers have long gone & the woods & trails are yours alone to explore, with the leaves gone from the trees & so much more to see along the way! The Appalachian Trail is one of many places to discover & enjoy this winter; watch for wildlife, bring your camera, be prepared, & HAVE FUN OUTSIDE!

John Diller stopped by WSKI the morning of Sat. Jan. 25 to update our viewers on what’s happening on the Mountain currently. In this challenging early winter, the skiing & riding is fantastic despite all the curve balls thrown at us by Mother Nature… now if only it would warm up a WEE bit to be more pleasant while out there enjoying the snow!!!!

Crocker Project in Maine’s High Peaks

12,046 Acres of beautiful Crocker Mountain in Maine’s High Peaks are forever ours to treasure thanks to the Trust for Public Lands & the contribution of time & money by many people to ensure this jewel can be home to animals of all sorts, play ground & work place to people of all sorts, & an endless place to love for generations for ALL sorts of reasons! Congratulations to all involved, & thank you!
