It’s hard to imagine there’s ever been a time without Sugarloaf’s now world famous Reggae Fest, but as it so happens a mere 25 years ago the festival premiered for the very first time. It could hardly be called a festival back then, but today it’s one of the highlights of the year, an annual event every Sugarloafer looks forward to. And thanks to the return of cold temperatures it looks like we’ll be skiing during the Fest as well, something that seemed downright unthinkable just a week ago! When it comes to entertainment, an old favorite for hooting & hollering & a lot of laughs, was always upper Gogo Line on a spring day at Sugarloaf; whether skiing or watching, the huge bumps back in the days of long boards, really separated the Good from the (pretty) Bad & (downright) Ugly! The natural moguls still grow on Gondi Line this time of year when the snow is soft & corny; it’s one of the unique bonuses for those of us who call Sugarloaf our home hill. There aren’t many trails like Gondola Line, especially in the NE of the US; definitely on my list of top 5 favorite trails at Sugarloaf! [Read more…]
12,046 Acres of beautiful Crocker Mountain in Maine’s High Peaks are forever ours to treasure thanks to the Trust for Public Lands & the contribution of time & money by many people to ensure this jewel can be home to animals of all sorts, play ground & work place to people of all sorts, & an endless place to love for generations for ALL sorts of reasons!
