1992 Downhill Mountain Bike Racing at Sugarloaf

As Carrabassett Valley’s miles of mountain bike trails grow & get more popular every year, here’s a reminder of the days when the Mountain had mountain biking DOWNHILL style… made only more fun w/ damp & foggy conditions for mud & slick cruising for this version of a wicked fun gravity sport, not for the faint hearted or those afraid of more than a faceful of dirt!!! Note the changes in bikes & tires since then!!!!!

Mountain Biking in Carrabassett; Narrow Gauge Singletrack

If you’re coming up to Carrabassett Valley and like to mountain bike you need to check out the trails in the area. The past few years the mountain bike scene has exploded thanks to the construction of miles and miles of both hand built and machine built single-track trails. There is truly something for everyone here in Carrabassett.
If you’re looking for an easy introduction to the mountain bike trails, a great spot to check out is the Narrow Gauge single-track. Easy to get to from the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center, they are a ton of fun! Check out the video to see more! [Read more…]

Carrabassett’s unique ability to work with a variety of groups over the years has made it the destination it is for year-round recreation, & great place to live for those of us lucky enough to do so! Carrabassett Region NEMBA club members Dave Hughes & Josh Tauses met Kip at the Quad over Homecoming to talk about the incredible on-going improvements to increase mountain bike riding options for beginners to experts in Carrabassett Valley. Word is beginning to travel through the nation that we are a destination for this fantastic outdoors sport that can be enjoyed by all ages & fitness levels, & for FREE, right here in our beautiful backyard! A million Thank Yous to all who make it possible through their hard work to create these wicked fun & ecologically sensitive & sustainable trails!! If you haven’t been out to see for yourself, what are you waiting for??????? Get out & ride!!!!!!!
