Nestled within the woods of Carrabassett Valley lies a wonderful natural feature known as Poplar Stream Falls. The falls can be reached a variety of ways, including via a loop hike on the Maine Huts and Trails trail system. This hike is perfect for all abilities and can also be a great snowshoe in the winter months. 2nd Annual Sugarloaf Fat Tire Race and Festival February 5-7!

Our friends from the Carrabassett Region NEMBA were our guests on the Mountain Report to talk about the upcoming event, building on the success of last year’s event, Sugarloaf is hosting the 2nd annual Fat Tire Festival this weekend. There will be a three-part on-snow race held on Saturday morning, a dual-slalom race Saturday evening, and a Frozen-Fattie guided group ride on Sunday. There will also be demo bikes and guided rides during the day on Saturday and a Fat Tire Festival party Saturday night at the Widowmaker with prizes, movies and music.
