Pat Scanlan was our guest to share w/ viewers that the CVA Backcountry Program is the only one of its kind in the United States. Though the Maine High Peaks offer substantial training and exploration opportunities, Backcountry athletes can train around the country and the world. Coming soon, a chance to explore right here what it’s all about for kids or young athletes who may have interest in pursuing the sport and want to find out more about experiences available!
Evil Dr. Ice & Super Bob visit WSKI… & your kids will want to be part of this!
Kids’ Programs at Sugarloaf develop skiers for the future. Why not make them so fun no kid can resist? Batman. Thor. Super heroes are super fun, and at Super Hero Camp, your little skier will discover their own secret powers, and have a blast while learning the basics. Campers will hit the slopes with one of our “Super hero” instructors, conquering secret missions and evil villains for a fun twist on traditional lesson programs.
Snowmobiling, you ask??? We’ve got that, too; word on the trails is the riding is great!!
Stratton / Eustis is home to the Arnold Trail Snowmobile Club, Maine’s largest, & the head groomer is also the Club president as well as owner of the Pines Market, where if they don’t have it, you don’t need it! Not a regular snowmobiler??? You don’t know what you’re missing!! …but you can definitely find out! For those who want to rent a sled, or maybe prefer a guided tour, to see our beautiful backyard from places you cannot otherwise, Flagstaff Rentals have guided tours available that will be a highlight of any visit to the Maine High Peaks. Some places in New England haven’t had very good riding this winter; around here, that is certainly not true; conditions are excellent & have been for weeks! Head’s up tho; changing day to day temps, up & down, be vigilant while riding, & get after it while you can!!!
Sugarloaf Fat Tire Day 2-10-18
Sugarloaf’s annual Fat Tire Day was held on February 10th, 2018 at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center and was a ton of fun. The day included free demos, guided rides, live music from The Freemont Street String Band and refreshments from Baxter Brewing co. The day also included the Fat Tire Race which participants were able to choose between a long or short course. The conditions were challenging for the racers as fresh snow had fallen in the days leading up to the event but they all had smiles as they enjoyed the riding at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. All donations benefited the Carrabassett Valley Trail network. If you’re into fat biking or would like to give it a try put this on your calendar for next year! [Read more…]
