WSKI’s sponsors keep us on the air and we couldn’t stay #1 for all these years without their support, so when out & about, please support them, too!! From eats to treats, summer beverages to winter’s joy. With a variety of things to do and places to visit further afield in the Maine High Peaks, en route, or travelling elsewhere in the Pine Tree State, explore these options.
A windy one in Carrabassett Valley…
Winds reached 171 mph at the top of Mt. Washington on Monday. Winds were high enough here to cause the communications tower at the 4237′ summit to topple over. Woah. So, as you can imagine the lifts are on wind hold and they’ll be some big snowdrifts for the groomers to push through later. There’s still plenty to do off the hill on a day like today. From snowshoeing, cross country skiing or snowmobiling to Bowling, Open Pottery studios, Bar Crawls, hot tubs, Anti Gravity Complex activities and more. Find out more right here at wskitv.com. Here’s some footage from our live show Quad Cam cruising around the mountain this morning.. [Read more…]

Keeping the Tradition Alive! Sam Morse, Coach Cochrane, welcome home!
Maine & Sugarloaf, particularly, has a rich history of alpine skiing excellence despite our State’s fame being more for lighthouses than our beautiful Mountains. Now local grown Sam Morse is on the World’s stage & his coach while at CVA, Chip Cochrane, is right there to help him be the best & fastest he can be! See Sam 2-4pm Saturday at D’Ellies downstairs in Village West; w/ posters for the kids to have him sign. When you meet Sam, you’ll know why all are so very proud he’s representing us around the World; wish him Good Luck for the rest of the season!
Control is safe in Kat’s hands…
Behind the Lifties who you see every time you ride a lift, there’s so many more people behind the scenes orchestrating the Operations on the Mountain! We share Admin’s basement w/ the core of the army; Lifts, Patrol Central, Grooming & Terrain Park headquarters. Lift Control’s Kat Monk came by to share what it takes to do her job as coordinator extraordinaire with 13 lifts, more than 40 on the crew, & our infamously contentious winds! We love our Lifties, hope you do, too….
