Take a Hike! West Kennebago mountain

Located just about an hour’s drive from the Sugarloaf region and 20 min. from downtown Rangeley is West Kennebago Mountain. This is a moderate hike taking about 3.5 hours with its summit elevation topping out above 3700 feet. Driving directions to the Trailhead from Rangeley: Take Route 16 west from Oquossoc (toward Wilson’s Mills) 4.8 miles to the dirt road on the right (Morton Cut-off Road). Go 3.2 miles and take a right at the intersection. Travel 5.3 miles to the trail. The trails is marked with a sign and red blazes.

Reggae Fest is coming!

It’s hard to imagine there’s ever been a time without Sugarloaf’s now world famous Reggae Fest, but as it so happens a mere 25 years ago the festival premiered for the very first time. It could hardly be called a festival back then, but today it’s one of the highlights of the year, an annual event every Sugarloafer looks forward to. And thanks to the return of cold temperatures it looks like we’ll be skiing during the Fest as well, something that seemed downright unthinkable just a week ago! Reggae Fest goes from April 11-14th this year. For those of you who have never been, we’ve included a video of what you’ve been missing. Local Swimming Spots

Take a Hike! Kibby Mountain

Kibby Mountain (3654 ft) is located north of Flagstaff Lake, east of Chain of Ponds and just south of the Canadian boarder. The trail to the summit is 2.5 miles long and takes approx 1.5 hrs to reach the summit.
