Go for a Paddle: Outlet of the South Branch, Dead River

From the boat launch off route 27, just north of the Village of Stratton, is where the South Branch of the Dead river flows into Flagstaff Lake. Watch for Eagles, Turtles and other wildlife as you meander up the Dead River. Paddle until it gets too shallow to go up river any further. On your return trip enjoy great views of the Bigelow range. You’ll see hints of past river drives and a few sandy areas to get out and enjoy a swim or picnic… [Read more…]

CBCC race weekend is almost here!

The Carrabassett Backcountry Cycle Challenge is coming up this weekend. Racers from all over the country will be in Carrabassett Valley to participate in 25K, 50K or 100K races on some of the best, and toughest trails in the state. Don’t forget there’s also a kids race!
