Carrabassett’s new Adaptive Outdoor Education Center is a fantastic place for creating heart warming moments & memories for people of all ages with all sorts of disabilities, to enable them to get out into the great outdoors that we all love! Autistic children benefit from the Spurwink on the Slopes program with specially trained ski instructors bringing the joy of our favorite sport to children who haven’t had that experience. A Grand Opening of the new faciltiy will be on Feb. 6 with afternoon tours & the Dinner in the Dark event that evening. Circle the date & get your tickets on line: http://www.adaptiveoutdooreducationcenter.org/ This fully accessible facility includes a Lodge and Large Yurt on two acres of land to provide a variety of recreational and educational programs and experiences in Maine’s great outdoors! Help this super cause bring the wonders of the outdoors to those who have been cut off from such opportunities for health reasons of all sorts, so they, too, can share the glory of Mother Nature’s beauty, & fun, year round in the Maine High Peaks!
CV Mountain Bike Development Forum Dec. 2015
How to do it CV style!!! All it takes to get something done is determination, collaboration, unity of purpose & a desire to have fun while improving life for our region…. Carrabassett’s unique ability to work with a variety of groups over the years has made it the destination it is for year-round recreation, & great place to live for those of us lucky enough to do so! Thanks to the fifty plus people who turned out during Christmas break for a brain-storming session at the library… here is Town Manager Dave Cota introducing the event:
And Peter Smith, representing CV NEMBA Club!
Then, Charlie Woodworth from Maine huts & Trails:
Pro Skiing re-born
What is old is new again as the announcement of a Pro Ski Tour being re-introduced brings excitement to the world of ski racing for the first time in three decades, giving an opportunity to racers everywhere to hit the slopes for cash prizes once their Olympic aspirations are retired. CV resident Craig Marshall will be working for the former Red Stallion owner Ed Rogers, who created the circuit originally. Racers Ready???
Ski Maine’s Greg Sweetser
Long time friend Greg Sweetser came by for an update on what’s happening across the Pine Tree State this winter at areas big & small from north to south: in a place where our winters tend to last a few (several) months, there’s no excuses not to embrace the outside lifestyle year-round no matter where in Maine you may be!! Think Snow!!
Update from Crusher on King Pine Chairlift & more!
Load testing with the new motor this week, hopefully opening next week, our favorite upper East Side Lift will be giving us access to trails we love soon, yay!! Thank the snowmakers, too, for their efforts are 100% responsible for all the current skiing & riding on offer. We’re happy Mother Nature has kissed & made up w/ Father Winter for more cold temps & snow flying both now & for the rest of the season!! Happy New Year!! See you on the slopes!!!
