The Polar Blast this weekend includes a show by the Rave X crew, which is great family entertainment whether or not you are a snowmobiler!! This show will be behind the Stratton Fire Dept. in Pepin’s Field at 2:30 Sat. Feb. 6, right downtown, with easy access to an exciting performance just ten minutes north of the Sugarloaf Access Road, & don’t forget the other Polar Blast activities, from Chili-Chowder Contest from 11a.m. to Random Order playing at the Plaza Sat. evening!

Our friends from the Carrabassett Region NEMBA were our guests on the Mountain Report to talk about the upcoming event, building on the success of last year’s event, Sugarloaf is hosting the 2nd annual Fat Tire Festival this weekend. There will be a three-part on-snow race held on Saturday morning, a dual-slalom race Saturday evening, and a Frozen-Fattie guided group ride on Sunday. There will also be demo bikes and guided rides during the day on Saturday and a Fat Tire Festival party Saturday night at the Widowmaker with prizes, movies and music. Spurwink Fundraiser & Dinner in the Dark at the AOEC
Carrabassett’s new Adaptive Outdoor Education Center is a fantastic place for creating heart warming moments & memories for people of all ages with all sorts of disabilities, to enable them to get out into the great outdoors that we all love! Autistic children benefit from the Spurwink on the Slopes program with specially trained ski instructors bringing the joy of our favorite sport to children who haven’t had that experience. A Grand Opening of the new faciltiy will be on Feb. 6 with afternoon tours & the Dinner in the Dark event that evening. What is old is new again as the announcement of a Pro Ski Tour being re-introduced brings excitement to the world of ski racing for the first time in three decades, giving an opportunity to racers everywhere to hit the slopes for cash prizes once their Olympic aspirations are retired. CV resident Craig Marshall will be working for the former Red Stallion owner Ed Rogers, who created the circuit originally. Racers Ready???
