When the Sugarloaf property support manager got a call that there was flooding on the Mountain so he better get to work to see about damage, he had no idea he would not make it to the Mountain that Sunday afternoon! BUT he did have the sense to have a camera on hand for some incredible footage of crazy MONSTER standing waves in a section of the Carrabassett that is normally tranquil, & you could have walked across the river there the day before!!! We’re pretty proud of the fact that we have a lot of champions who get their start on the slopes of Sugarloaf Mtn!!!! If you could grow up dreaming of snowboarding around the world, wouldn’t it be beyond your wildest dreams to have the best in the world be your personal mentor? The Best is two-time Olympic gold medal winner in Boardercross, Seth Wescott, a graduate of Carrabassett Valley Academy at Sugarloaf; the local who is on his heels is Alex Tuttle from Stratton, 20yrs. old & also a graduate of the Academy thanks to tremendous support from the school & the community!  [Read more…]
