Appalachian Trail Thru Hikers at Wyman Trailhead

July 5, 2018 by WSKI Leave a Comment

Hiking in the Maine High Peaks is one of the most popular things to do here. Some people literally ONLY hike when in our region, as they pass through on their journeys on the Appalachian Trail which crosses Rt. 27 a couple miles north of the Access Road. We have long wanted to get some thru hikers on WSKI; one way to resolve that is to have Greg at the local trailhead of the East Coast’s most iconic, world-re-known path from Georgia to Katahdin! They were anxious to get hitching to Stratton (&, no doubt, a shower!!) so Greg gave them a ride in return for this quick interview. The number of non-U.S. citizens who do the AT would probably surprise many as it IS so widely admired all around the world….. Welcome to our portion of its beauty, I love picking hikers up because they always say how nice it is here! Never get tired of hearing that…!
