One of the many local jewels our sparkling clear mountain waters give to us to enjoy, is Shadagee Falls on the North Branch of the Dead River, just off the Maine High Peaks Scenic Byway, in Jim Pond Township north of Eustis. Here’s a paddler’s view during spring run-off (note snow on the banks!). We’ve had a lot of high water the past couple months for some excellent paddling conditions due to all the rain! The beauty of the spot changes throughout the four seasons, but it is in summer when levels are lower, particularly on a hot day, when the pleasure of the feel of those always cool waters of the Dead, & the Falls distinct rock ledges, give more reasons for stopping by with your bathing suit for a quick, or extended, dip!
