US National Moguls Champion Jeremy Cota's brief visit home

April 9, 2012 by WSKI Leave a Comment

WSKI was fortunate to have another extraordinary local athlete as our guest on the Mountain Report during his few days home for the first time in over a year & a half! 2007 Carrabassett Valley Academy graduate Jeremy Cota has had an amazing array of accomplishments as a member of the US Freestyle Ski Team, with this winter’s National title a befitting culmination to an excellent season! He had 12 top 10 finishes including four second place finishes in World Cup events in the 2011- 2012 season.

AND he represents us so well with his guileless down-to-earth attitude & self-effacing style, thnx Jeremy! Like we say at Sugarloaf: no need to brag, just show ’em on the Hill!

Temps here in Carrabassett Valley should top out in the mid 40’s with overnight lows in the lower to mid 20’s… [Read more…]

There’s no doubt about it: if you like the outdoors, you’ll like where we live here in the western mountains of Maine! Hiking, canoeing & exploring are a few of the activities that are a foundation for great adventures, & the ingredients for success are great people to share the experience with! When newly elected president of CVOA Paul Trueworthy & wife Linda visited with us at WSKI, we got to hear about the many community projects & fabulous excursions to beautiful places that the members of CVOA are involved in! Fun bunch of folks, check out their website: www.cvoutdoors.com [Read more…]

March 24, 2012 by WSKI Leave a Comment

The biggest article on the CV Town Meeting agenda was the need to replace the irrigation at the Sugarloaf Golf Course. After hearing from the NH golf course expert on the current status of the 25 year + irrigation system & how technology has changed with new & better ways to achieve the desired results, the voters of Carrabassett determined to go forward with the investment in recreational amenities to keep our region as a top destination in Maine.
