Reggae Fest is coming!
It’s hard to imagine there’s ever been a time without Sugarloaf’s now world famous Reggae Fest, but as it so happens a mere 25 years ago the festival premiered for the very first time. It could hardly be called a festival back then, but today it’s one of the highlights of the year, an annual event every Sugarloafer looks forward to. And thanks to the return of cold temperatures it looks like we’ll be skiing during the Fest as well, something that seemed downright unthinkable just a week ago! Take a Hike! Sugarloaf Mountain via the AT
Well known for its skiing and winter activities, Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley is Maine’s second highest mountain and a great hike. The summit can be reached either from the ski trails or via the Appalachian Trail which crosses just below the top of the mountain. [Read more…]
Maine Huts and Trails: Stratton Brook Hut & More!
Maine Huts and Trail’s vision of preserving Maine’s natural beauty and remote areas, while providing adventurous year round outdoor activities, continues with the addition of their fourth hut. Located in Carrabassett Valley, at the foot of the breathtaking Bigelow Range, the Stratton Brook Hut offers views like no other and ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Untamed New England hits Carrabassett Valley
June 19th thru the 24th saw adventure racers from around the globe navigating their way through the Sugarloaf region. Untamed New England is a four day non stop race consisting of mountain biking, orienteering, packrafting, padding, ropes, trekking, whitewater rafting and wilderness navigation. Known as “more an adventure than a race”.
Race headquarters were at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center.
