October 20, 2016 by WSKI Leave a Comment

We caught up with the Carrabassett Valley Trail Builders to get an update on what’s been done this summer. The mountain bike trails continue to impress year after year. The guys are doing world class work. Huge thanks go out to the town of Carrabassett Valley and the Carrabassett Region chapter of the New England Mountain Bike association for making this trail creation possible. There’s something for every one out there so get up here and ride the trails! [Read more…]

Take a ride! Poplar Mountain ATV Trail

October 12, 2016 by WSKI Leave a Comment

Fall is one of the best times to get out and enjoy the scenery on an ATV. Leaves are changing, the dust is down and the weather is cooler. The Carrabassett Valley ATV club has done tons of work around the valley connecting and maintaining existing trails, building new trails and well as improving sections to better one’s riding experience. It’s a great way to get out and explore the Maine High Peaks Region for sure! [Read more…]

From the Archives; a reminder that Fall is a great time to visit the Mountains!

Labor Day this weekend; the end of summer is nigh! Fall is a wicked nice time of the year in the mountains. The SuperQuad operates on weekends (weather permitting) as the gondi used to run daily during the foliage season; pic of Rosemary Drosky at mid-station on the way down in 1987. Vids from the summit (Rebecca Carey!) & of newly re-created East side of the Mtn.

Just off the Narrow Gauge Pathway in Carrabassett Valley is the Oak Knoll mountain bike trail. Sugarloaf’s first ever trail running race, The Flume.

August 23, 2016 by WSKI Leave a Comment

On Saturday, Snowfields Productions’ Andy G. was there to shoot the Flume Trail Running Race on the Mtn. Talk about an event made for our kind of fun outdoors competition! Both a 5K and 10K option for this backcountry foot race through the Sugarloaf Nordic Trail network went off with a Shotgun Start at 10:00AM and loads of runners entered who celebrated with a complimentary finish-line beer and a buffet and afternoon of music! Let’s hope this is the start of MANY more such summer events at Sugarloaf!
