mid-’80s re-visit

June 5, 2023 by WSKI

Video of when the parking lot was torn up to make way for the Hotel in spring of 1985 gives a glimpse of what the Village looked like before that seven story structure was built, & video of the Mountain’s long-time Liftie Tim Diehl with his Samoyed sled team on the Landing. The Baselodge had old East wing & center section where Maxwell’s was, still intact, with the West wing replaced by what remains that part of the Baselodge now, & the tower of the Hotel is visible, too, so that dates the video as being from spring 1986. The Mtn. filed for Bankruptcy in March of that spring & WSKI ceased to exist for awhile till we, formerly Marketing Dept. employees, became Snowfields Productions to offer to take it over & out of the Mountain’s hands the summer of 1986, & we’ve been independent, while 100% marketing our Mountain, ever since.
