Sugarloaf Maine
It’s hard to imagine there’s ever been a time without Sugarloaf’s now world famous Reggae Fest, but as it so happens a mere 25 years ago the festival premiered for the very first time. It could hardly be called a festival back then, but today it’s one of the highlights of the year, an annual event every Sugarloafer looks forward to. And thanks to the return of cold temperatures it looks like we’ll be skiing during the Fest as well, something that seemed downright unthinkable just a week ago! Reggae Fest goes from April 11-14th this year. For those of you who have never been, we’ve included a video of what you’ve been missing. For those of you all too familiar with Reggae Fest, well, enjoy the flashback. [Read more…]
It’s been over thirty years since we lost the incredibly talented song-writer & entertainer Jud Strunk WAY too soon. With so much of his music inspired by & written while here in the High Peaks of Maine, his memory will never fade not only from the minds of those of us who knew Jud, but from the generations to follow as well (just ask grandson Mason Strunk of Eustis!), thanks to brilliant ditties such as this one: flying a home-made plane, bears, & beers aren’t generally what you’d put together in your mind, but gotta be a true story, note local names & places …. Jud’s Plane Ride, enjoy! [Read more…]

The natural moguls still grow on Gondi Line this time of year when the snow is soft & corny; it’s one of the unique bonuses for those of us who call Sugarloaf our home hill. There aren’t many trails like Gondola Line, especially in the NE of the US; definitely on my list of top 5 favorite trails at Sugarloaf! [Read more…]
