4th of July in the Valley: ’80s style!

July 4, 2015 by WSKI Leave a Comment

Ice cream & kids & the 4th of July can only be improved upon by having a HUGE Sundae with a ton of kids to eat it before it melts! Yum!! It’s always been a great place to live for adventure seekers & relaxation experts: this footage from 1985 (best recollection!) shows it’s a great place to grow up, too!!

Happy 4th everyone!

Take a Hike! Rock Pond Trail, Saddleback

June 22, 2015 by WSKI Leave a Comment

The Rangeley Region is full of outdoor activities and is historically known for its “sporting heritage”. A fun easy hike along the Rock Pond Trail at Saddleback Ski resort gives you a great taste of the beauty of the area.

Start your hike at the parking lots for Saddleback Ski Area. Follow the signs for the Rock pond condos and you’ll soon find the sign and the trail head.

After about a half mile of hiking on an easy grade you reach Rock Pond. If you’re a fisherman, bring your fly rod and wet a line (fly fishing only). You’ll also see many signs of Moose along the way..

The Summer Views from Our Mountain

June 13, 2015 by WSKI Leave a Comment

One of the best parts about living at a ski resort is having an easy way to see the view from up high of the surrounding mountains & valley below! Sugarloaf runs the SuperQuad on weekends during summer & autumn for everyone to have the chance to share the outstanding view & see why us ‘mountain people’ love where we live as much as we do! The view is unchanged from this raw (unedited) footage when the Gondi was a regular summer attraction; you just have to hike up a bit further to get to the summit for the same view of our surrounding peaks.
