Chain of Ponds; been there lately?

July 28, 2018 by WSKI Leave a Comment

Follow the North Branch of the Dead River past Eustis to its source, The Chain of Ponds, on our Maine High Peaks Scenic Byway. The State owned Public Reserved Lands unit includes Natanis, Long, Bag, & Lower Ponds joined by short thoroughfares to form the “chain.” The unit includes public access frontage on each of the ponds & offers lake shore camping at primitive remote sites, or at Natanis campground with amenities. The view from the overlook is especially beautiful at sunset, & you can see all the way down the river valley to the Bigelow Range to the SE. Pack a picnic, bathing suit & fishing pole & head north for this sweet piece of Heaven on Earth in our backyard….
