44 years of Maine Winter Special Olympics

January 29, 2013 by nadene Leave a Comment

From every corner of the State, Special Olympians arrived at Sugarloaf for their Winter Games this week, as they have since 1984, to ski, snowshoe, skate, enjoy a snowmobile ride, & share in all the fun outdoors activities that make the Maine High Peaks Region a place to have fun in the snow for everyone! From the HUGE Community Supper in the Baselodge on Sunday night, & the Opening Ceremony on Monday, to all the day-time competitions & the Torchlight Parade & Fireworks Monday night, the endless smiles & enthusiasm of the Special Olympians make them our favorite visitors year after year!  Program Director  Mark  Capano & Mike Feldman  from the Board of Directors shared their perspectives on what the games mean during our Mountain Report in this interview.   [flv:SpecOinterview.flv thumb.jpg 480 360]
