A great “springtime” hike or first hike of the season is Tumbledown mtn just north of Weld in Franklin county. We took the Brook trail up to the summit of west peak on Tumbledown and enjoyed a great hike with spectacular views.
Driving Directions: From the center of Kingfield; take rt 142 south. Turn right onto Byron Road following signs for Mtn Blue state Park. Byron road turns to dirt and you’ll find the parking area for the Brook trail on your left. The trail head is across the road.
