Spurwink Fundraiser & Dinner in the Dark at the AOEC

Carrabassett’s new Adaptive Outdoor Education Center is a fantastic place for creating heart warming moments & memories for people of all ages with all sorts of disabilities, to enable them to get out into the great outdoors that we all love! Autistic children benefit from the Spurwink on the Slopes program with specially trained ski instructors bringing the joy of our favorite sport to children who haven’t had that experience. A Grand Opening of the new faciltiy will be on Feb. 6 with afternoon tours & the Dinner in the Dark event that evening. Circle the date & get your tickets on line: http://www.adaptiveoutdooreducationcenter.org/ This fully accessible facility includes a Lodge and Large Yurt on two acres of land to provide a variety of recreational and educational programs and experiences in Maine’s great outdoors! Help this super cause bring the wonders of the outdoors to those who have been cut off from such opportunities for health reasons of all sorts, so they, too, can share the glory of Mother Nature’s beauty, & fun, year round in the Maine High Peaks!

National Body Sliding at Sugarloaf in the ’80s

The variety of methods & madness of the National Body Sliding Championship on Boardwalk as part of White White World Week was half the entertainment, the rest was all the mayhem of the trip down the slope!

You’ll recognize several folks in this 25 year old+ video who still call the Mtn. home, with a grin & a twinkle in the eye: yes, we know how to have fun at Sugarloaf, it’s a big part of who we are for over 60 years!
