Thankful? … you bet; for guys like these who made our Mtn. into the Legend it is in the East!

Sugarloaf Maine
Unlikely as it may sound, when the Hartford Ballet spent their summers practicing at Sugarloaf, locals who wouldn’t know a tutu from a tip-toe came to appreciate the talents of these professionals! With free performances in the Courtyard that introduced us to a world of dance & beauty that wasn’t exactly part of our Carrabassett Valley lifestyle, the comraderie that ensued (mainly at Gepetto’s!!) was another time when fun memories were created between our cultured ballet friends from the city, & us… kinda not a bit of either, but common bond was surely formed: great time at the Mtn. (& the Valley for this softball game!).
The images & audio may be less than perfect, but the content certainly makes it worthwhile watching…
Plans are underway for a Tribute to John at Sugarloaf in the Baselodge on Saturday June 18 starting at 4:00p.m. (Apres Ski Time! ….of course…)
Powder magazine is what you look to for the most thrilling images to feed a skier/snowboarder’s dreams! So how did these three guys who have been skiing Sugarloaf for 50+ years manage to get a major story in the December issue? It’s all about attitude! Non-pretentious, serious skiing is what Sugarloaf, the Mountain, has always been about. Ostentatious, dry humor is what ‘Sugarloaf’ has always been about! Early Mtn. Manager John Christie, “Captain America” Peter Roy, & First in Line Don Fowler share some laughs on WSKI’s Evening show January 14.
Independently owned & operated since 1986, WSKI TV brings the Maine High Peaks region to the world.
