Piazza Rock: WOW! BIG!!!

February 5, 2013 by WSKI Leave a Comment

Long ago, when the glaciers rolled over our Mountains, carving them into the High Peaks of Maine that we enjoy so much today, giant chunks of the mountains were torn off & carried amazing distances from their origin, & came to rest in the Valleys below in massive heaps of giant boulders! A unique & very accesssible example just off the Appalachian Trail is in near-by Phillips, easy to find all year-round for a great day-trip outdoors to marvel over one of Nature’s not-so-mysterious wonders! Pack your snowshoes to follow the tracks of Andy & Carra as seen in this older footage, this winter, or remember to pack a picnic lunch & visit in the warmer months! Check it out: it’s one HUGE overhang to ponder, & it won’t cost you a cent to see it!!
