1999 Uncle Al interview with Jeff Strunk at the Stallion

For those of us who had the joy of knowing Uncle Al, his delicious laugh is just one aspect of this incredibly talented & truly beautiful man, which will be sorely missed! In this interview from a Sugarloaf Founders’ Night gathering at the Red Stallion in Carrabassett a few years ago, Al shared some of his history after coming to the area in the mid-60s with Jud Strunk’s son Jeff. Thanks for the memories, Uncle Al. We will always love you…..

The Legendary Paul Schipper – Hard Core Skier

In 1987, Evening Magazine reported on the non-stop skiing streak every day Sugarloaf was open for skiing, underway by Lumberjack Lodge owner Paul Schipper. To this day, no one has come close to The Every Day of Every Season Legacy which broke records when Schipper skied year after year despite the foulest of weather or conditions, personal illness & family celebrations.
