Maine Stitching Specialties/Dog Not Gone; a growing local business

August 29, 2019 by WSKI Leave a Comment

We had the opportunity to sit down with Bill Swain, co-owner of Maine Stitching Specialties and Dog Not Gone to learn about how they came about, what they have to offer and how they are bringing back a piece of manufacturing right down the road in Skowhegan…
We’d also like to thank them for the local support by advertising their products on WSKI TV 17

Stub in action… sort of!

August 28, 2019 by WSKI Leave a Comment

I am knocking on wood that this was/will be the one & only Tobo ride I ever take! Skip my bad acting & watch Stub doing what he did better than anyone else!
& head first, Nicko’s smooth driving down that hump on Comp Hill, was a hoot…..
I wonder how many injured skiers experienced Stub’s care & expertise? Hundreds & hundreds……
Forever grateful.

Stub Taylor

August 25, 2019 by WSKI Leave a Comment

Few of us have the chance to know & work with people who are game-changers, yet super humble, serious about their work, but never taking themselves too seriously.
Stub faced any & every challenge with grit & determination, yet a softness that was of such comfort to the injured skiers whose aide he came to, in the harshest of conditions, sometimes in places others feared to go. Stub’s presence shaped not only our mountain from its inception as a ski hill, but the character of all of us who live here & make our living here. No words can say how sad we are to hear he’s left this world. Our gratitude for having the privilege to be in ‘his world’, this Mountain in the decades before he retired, will never diminish. Love you, Stub. Condolences to all his family & thanks for sharing him with us all those years!!

“Sugarloaf: The Experience” from the archives

August 17, 2019 by WSKI Leave a Comment

Brud Folger’s film “Sugarloaf: The Experience” is one of several gems in our archives that we are privileged to share, which he produced with various people in the ’60s. Brud, we can’t thank you enough for capturing, editing, creating & spreading the same message so long ago, before there was a Marketing Department, that people continue to discover anew to this day. People & Mtn. ownership come & go; the Mountain & the love people have for it, unchanging … FOREVER, thanks to all those who went before to make it so!
